Fuel Tank, Draining When Less Than 3/4 Full: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required

-- Attach the ground wire of the :VAS5190 to a bare area on the body.

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to REAR SEATS .

-- Remove the carpet and fold it upward.

-- If equipped, remove the Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- -2- from the right cover.

-- Unclip the right cover -1- at the tabs in direction of -arrows- using the :3409 .

-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the fuel delivery unit.

CAUTION:

The fuel system is under pressure.

Risk of injury from fuel spraying out.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Reduce the pressure: place clean cloths around the connection point and carefully open the connection point.

-- Remove the fuel line -2- from the fuel delivery unit flange -3-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .

-- Open the locking ring using the :T10202 .

-- Do not bend the :T10202 and push hard on the locking ring. If the wrench slides down, the fuel delivery unit can be damaged.

-- Lift the flange.

-- Insert the suction hose as far as possible into the fuel tank and extract the fuel.

If fuel tank only needed to be emptied, install the flange again.
