Overview - Rear Brake Caliper
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Install the entire repair kit when servicing.
- Only use mineral spirits to clean the brakes.
- Coat the brake cylinder, piston and seal lightly with Assembly Paste.
- New brake calipers are filled with brake fluid and are pre-bled.
New Brake Calipers without Pre-Filled Brake Fluid
- Before installing, always pre-bleed the brake caliper (without the brake pads). Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, PRE-BLEEDING .
NOTE:
When servicing or replacing with new brake calipers, the brake calipers must always be pre-bled before installing in the vehicle (without brake pads). Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, PRE-BLEEDING .
- Cap
- Pull onto the piston with the outer sealing lip
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER PISTON, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Piston with Automatic Adjusting Tool
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER PISTON, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Apply a thin coat of Assembly Paste to piston beforehand
- Seal
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER PISTON, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Brake Caliper
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- With parking brake cable lever
- Replace the brake caliper if there is a leak at the parking brake cable lever
- Breather Valve
- 10 Nm
- Lightly grease the threads with Assembly Paste before installing.
- Dust Cap
- Bolt
- 35 Nm
- Always replace if removed.
- Self-locking
- When loosening and tightening, counterhold at the guide pin
- Guide Pin
- Lubricate before installing the cap
- Check for ease of movement
- Cap
- Install on brake carrier and guide pin.
- Check for damage and correct seating
- Brake Carrier
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CARRIER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Delivered as an assembled replacement part with sufficient grease on the guide pins
- Install the repair kit if the caps or guide pins are damaged. Use the supplied grease packet to lubricate guide pins.
