Rollover Protection, Removing And Installing: Removing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

CAUTION:

When opening the convertible top carefully guide the headliner over the right and left rollover protection.

NOTE:

If it is not possible open the convertible top this because the convertible top motors are faulty, the convertible top can be brought into the desired position with the assistance of a second technician. Two technicians (one at each side of convertible top) move it in unison slowly and cautiously toward the rear.

-- Open the convertible top.

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fold forward the rear seat backrest.

-- Remove the upper rear panel trim panel. Refer to REAR PANEL TRIM PANELS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, UPPER REAR PANEL TRIM PANEL .

-- Switch off the ignition.

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Discharge electrostatically. Touch the body or the door striker briefly.

-- Unlock the connector safety catch -1- and disconnect the connector -2- from the rollover protection.

-- Remove the 2 most outer expanding clips from the center of the rear panel trim panel.

-- Fold forward the center rear panel trim panel near the bolts.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 3-.

-- Loosen the bolt -4- and remove it approximately 30 mm only.

WARNING:

The rollover protection system has components that are under spring tension which can deploy if shaken.

There is the danger of serious person injury to the face and body.

Always install the :VAS6750 .
Stay away from the range of deployment.
Avoid shaking or hitting the rollover protection system.

NOTE:

The : VAS6750 has a yellow dot as a marking.

This dot marks the side for the connector. This side of the : VAS6750 must be installed first.

-- Light the outer side of the rollover protection slightly.

-- Position the : VAS6750 -1- on the tab -arrow-.

-- Lift the rollover protection slightly with a screwdriver -1-.

-- Press the : VAS6750 inward forcefully.

-- Push the tab -3- in direction of -arrow-.

-- Position the : VAS6750 on the rollover protection tab -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolt -2-.

-- Hold the : VAS6750 -1- securely.

-- Pull the rollover protection out slowly.
