-- Switch off the ignition.

Vehicles with Automatic and DSG ^® Transmission

-- Move the selector lever into "S".

Continuation for All Vehicles

-- Remove the parking brake lever trim. Refer to PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRIM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Vehicles without Center Armrest

-- Remove the liner from the center console.

-- Remove the door -1- from the center console.

-- Remove the bolts -1- and the lower fastener -2-.

Vehicles with Center Armrest

-- Remove the nut -1- and the bracket -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -3- and the support foot for the center armrest -4-.

-- Remove the trim -1- using a : 3409 .

-- Unclip the indicator lamp -2- from the trim -1-.

Vehicles with Manual Transmission

-- Remove the shifter knob and boot. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Remove the noise insulation -1- from the center console.

Vehicles without Climatronic

-- Remove the heater controls. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - HEATER .

Vehicles with Climatronic

-- Remove the A/C or Climatronic controls. Refer to COMPONENT LOCATION OVERVIEW - A/C SYSTEM .

Continuation for All Vehicles

-- Remove the bolts -1- and the center console cover -2-.

-- Disconnect the 12 V socket -U5- wiring harness, if equipped.

-- Remove the bolts -1- from the center console -2-.

-- Pull the parking brake lever -1- into its highest position.

-- Remove the center console -2- upward from the vehicle.
