Additional Safety Precautions - Passenger Occupant Detection System Deactivation, Market-Specific

After every repair on the passenger seat in which the seat cover, for example, was "replaced", a basic setting for the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- must be performed. Perform the basic setting using Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
The Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- must not be bent.
Passenger occupant detection system must not come in contact with grease.
There is the danger that the passenger occupant detection system components may be damaged by sharp objects when working on the seat. It is necessary to avoid this danger.
Route the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- so that it has no wrinkles.
Make sure the seat cushion and the seat cover are installed correctly.
Always install the seat heating element (if equipped) under the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452-.
Replace all upholstery clips. Make sure the seat cushion is positioned correctly.
System basic setting is only possible at temperatures between 0° C and +40° C (32 °F and 104 °F)).
Make sure that no objects are placed on the seat when performing the basic setting.
Using a seat cover or placing a cushion on the seat will impair the passenger occupant detection system as well as the effectiveness of the airbag system.
