Bonding Rear Spoiler and Rear Lid, Preparing

When Reusing Rear Lid and/or the Rear Spoiler That Has Not Been Damaged

-- Replace the old double-sided tape on the left and right rear spoiler -2- with new double-sided tape. Refer to the parts information.

-- Remove any adhesive still on the two-sided adhesive tape with :VAS6349 .

-- Shortly before installing the components, cut back the remaining adhesive about 2 mm without damaging the paint.

It is not necessary to clean the cutting surfaces.

NOTE:

The remaining material acts as a base for the new adhesive sealant to be applied.

When using a New Rear Lid

-- Position the rear spoiler onto the rear lid and mark the installed position. Then remove the rear spoiler again.

-- Clean the marked adhesive surfaces with cleaning solution. Refer to the parts information.

WARNING:

Never apply primer beyond the markings. If the primer is applied beyond the markings, it can be removed with a lint-free cloth and mineral spirits within the first minute. It cannot be removed any later than that because of the bonding properties of the primer.

-- Prime the marked adhesive surface with primer. Refer to the parts information.

Drying time 10 minutes

When using a New Rear Spoiler

-- Clean the adhesive surfaces -1- with the cleaning solution. Refer to the parts information.
