Hand Vacuum Pump: VAS6213
Pressure Tester Kit: VAS6550
Pressure Tester Kit - Adapter Set - Fitting: VAS6550/3-1
Sealing Tool: T10249

Test Condition:

The ignition must be off.

Test sequence:

EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80-, Checking:

-- Disconnect the hose -arrow- to the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 - N80- at the EVAP canister.

-- Connect the : VAS6213 to the hose with suitable means.

-- Set the slide ring -1- on the : VAS6213 in position -B- for "pressure".

-- Operate the : VAS6213 several times. Pressure must increase.

If the Pressure Does not Increase:

-- Check the hose to the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 - N80- for leaks and damage and replace it if necessary.

If no Error can be Found:

-- Check the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80-. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

If the Pressure Increases:

-- Check the vent lines and EVAP canister by performing the following tests. Refer to the information below.

Checking the Vent Lines and EVAP Canister:

-- Remove the breather line -1-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .

-- Connect the : VAS6213 to the vent line to the EVAP canister as illustrated below.

-- Secure the : VAS6550/3-1 on the vent line.

-- Connect the : VAS6213 and the : VAS6550/3-1 using a commercially available hose -A-.

-- Set the slide ring -1- on the : VAS6213 in position -A- for "vacuum".

-- Operate the : VAS6213 several times. No vacuum should be built up.

If a Vacuum Forms:

-- Check the vent hose at the EVAP canister for contamination and clean if necessary ) OVERVIEW - EVAP SYSTEM, EVAP CANISTER IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT - List Item: Vent Hole.

If no Vacuum Forms:

-- Seal the vent hose -arrow- closed and operate the vacuum pump several times again. A vacuum must form.

If no Vacuum Forms:

-- Clamp off the hose between the EVAP canister -1- and EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- -5-.

-- Operate the vacuum pump again a few times.

If a Vacuum Forms:

The EVAP canister and the line -3- are OK.

If no Vacuum Forms:

-- Check the EVAP canister for leaks and damage and replace if necessary.

-- Check the line to the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- for leaks and damage.

If no Error can be Found:

Check the wire to the separating point on the underbody.

-- Release and remove the breather line -1-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .

-- Seal the vent line -1- with the : T10249 .

-- Connect the : VAS6213 with the : VAS6550/3-2 to the line to the fuel tank.

-- Operate the vacuum pump several times. A vacuum must form.

If no Vacuum Forms:

-- Check the line to the fuel tank for leaks and damage.

If no Error can be Found:

-- Check the fuel tank for leaks and damage.
