Right Seal, Replacing: Removing

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the right driveshaft from the transmission. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Tie the driveshaft up as high as possible. Do not damage the paint on the driveshaft while doing so.

-- Place the :VAS6208 under the transmission.

-- Seal the opening in the transmission for the driveshaft with a clean cloth -A-.

-- Using a drill bit -B- (2 to 4 mm), carefully drill a hole in the outer metal ring -C- of the seal.

NOTE:

Grease the drill bit -B- so that the shavings will stick.

Only drill through the metal ring -C-, otherwise the transmission could get damaged.

-- Install a 4 mm screw into the drilled hole in the seal -arrow-.

-- Remove the seal with the :T10055 and the :T10055/2 .

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the transmission.

Drill shavings must not get into the transmission or into the opening for the driveshaft. Vacuum up any shavings if necessary.

NOTE:

Do not insert the screw too deeply so that the bearing underneath does not become damaged.

Remove the cloth and carefully clean the transmission and the opening for the driveshaft.

If only the metal ring of the seal could be removed, carefully pry out the rest of the seal using a screwdriver.
