Valve Body, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Remove the transmission fluid pan. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID PAN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the transmission fluid screen. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID SCREEN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Make a sketch, similar to the illustration, of all the sensors and solenoid valves with their associated connectors.

-- Before the connectors are disconnected from the sensors and solenoid valves, the solenoid valves or the sensors and their associated connectors must be marked.

CAUTION:

It is absolutely necessary to draw sketches and make identifying marks so that the connectors cannot be accidentally connected to the wrong sensors and solenoid valves when reinstalling the valve body.

In some circumstances, confusing the connectors could cause damage to the transmission.

-- Carefully release the connector retaining tabs on the solenoid valves -1 through 8- using a small screwdriver and then disconnect the connectors.

CAUTION:

The wiring harness or the valve body with the solenoid valves must be replaced if the one of the connectors gets damaged.

-- Disconnect the connectors -A and B-.

-- Remove the bracket for the connectors -1 and 2-.

-- Carefully remove the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor -G93- -3- from the valve body.

-- Disengage the wiring harnesses from the brackets -arrows-.

-- If equipped, bend back the locking plate on the lever -arrows-.

-- Remove the lever -1- from the selector shaft.

-- While doing so, carefully hold the selector lever -1- firmly with pliers -2- so that the torque is not transferred onto the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-.

-- Make sure the valve -3- on the valve body, into which the lever engages, is not damaged.

NOTE:

The selector valve is very >>sensitive<<. Even minor damage leads to malfunction.

-- Always slide the valve into the body, secure it from falling out and never interchange it.

The valve body bolts on the transmission housing have different lengths and must be replaced.

Only the indicated bolts -arrows- may be loosened.

CAUTION:

If the other bolts are loosened, the valve body function is impaired or the valve body will distort.

-- Remove the brackets -1 and 2-.

-- Loosen the valve body bolts -arrows-, -A arrows and B arrows- in a diagonal sequence and then carefully remove the valve body.

- 3 -Valve body designation, for example, A2

-- When removing the valve body, pay attention to the damper piston -2-.
