Vehicles with Refrigerant R134a

-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DISCHARGING WITH A/C Service Station .

Vehicles with Refrigerant R1234yf

-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to the appropriate service category .

CAUTION:

Danger or frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.

Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Extract refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.

- If more than 10 minutes elapse after extracting the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract the refrigerant again. Evaporation can cause pressure to develop in the refrigerant circuit.

Continuation for All Vehicles

-- If equipped, remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the side air duct on the front left and right side. Refer to OVERVIEW - LOCK CARRIER .

-- Remove the bolts -1-.

-- Remove the refrigerant lines -3 and 4- from the condenser-block connection -2-.

-- Seal the refrigerant lines -3 and 4- with the : VAS6122 .

-- Seal the condenser block connection -2- with the : VAS6122 .

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -1-.

-- Perform the service position. Refer to SERVICE POSITION, IMPLEMENTING AND RESETTING .

-- Remove the radiator with the charge air cooler -3- from the bottom of the lock carrier -1-.

-- Remove the condenser -2- in the direction of -arrow-.

-- Insert the radiator with charge air cooler -3- back into the lock carrier -1-.

NOTE:

Carefully remove the condenser -2- and the radiator with charge air cooler -3- in order to avoid damaging the radiator blades on both of the components.

Perform the work with the help of a second technician.
