Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Trigger Clamp - 100A
Test Conditions
- The intake temperature is below 19 °C (66.2 °F)
- The coolant temperature is below 80 °C (176 °F)
- Passenger compartment temperature approximately 20 °C (68 °F)
- Battery voltage is greater than 11 V
- Generator load is not greater than 50 % (terminal DF)
- Engine speed higher than 450 RPM
- Position the interior temperature to "High" (heat) on the Climatronic-controls
Test Sequence
-- Remove the footwell vent on the front passenger side. Refer to FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left front footwell center console trim panel. Refer to CENTER CONSOLE SECURING BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Measure the current draw on the ground cable -arrow-. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester and the Trigger Clamp 100A.
Low heat output ≈ 30 amp
Medium heat output ≈ 60 amp
High heat output ≈ 80 amp
