Instrument Panel CROSSMEMBER, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolt -1- inside the plenum chamber -2-.

-- Remove the expanding pins -1 and 3-.

-- Remove the defroster channel -2- from the instrument panel central tube -5-.

-- Remove the air distributor -4- from the heater and A/C unit.

-- Disconnect the steering column from the crossmember. Refer to OVERVIEW - STEERING COLUMN .

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- for the central tube -3-.

NOTE:

Mark the height and side position of the central tube -2- in the vehicle around the nuts -1- and centering pin -3-.

-- Remove the nuts -1- on the driver side.

NOTE:

Mark the height and side position of the central tube -1- in the vehicle around the nuts -2- and centering pin -3-.

-- Remove the nuts -2- on the front passenger side.

-- Remove the harness connector mountings from the central tube, depending on the equipment level of the vehicle.

-- Remove the nuts -1-.

-- Remove the nuts -2-.

-- Loosen the instrument panel central tube -3- in the direction of the -arrow- and pull it slightly to the rear.

-- Carefully remove the instrument panel central tube -3- from the vehicle with a second technician.
