Rollover Protection: Removing

-- Open convertible top.

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to SEAT BENCH/SINGLE SEAT .

-- Fold forward the rear seat backrest.

-- Remove the upper rear panel trim panel. Refer to UPPER REAR PANEL TRIM PANEL .

-- Turn off the ignition.

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0A4,02E,09G,02Q] [For engine(s) CVCA,CPRA,CPKA,CPLA,CJAA,CBUA,CPPA,CCTA,CBFA] Removal and Installation .

-- Discharge electrostatically. Touch the body or the door striker pin briefly.

-- Unlock the connector safety catch -1- and disconnect the connector -2- from the rollover protection.

-- Remove the 2 most outer expanding clips from the center of the rear panel trim panel.

-- Fold forward the center rear panel trim panel near the bolts.

-- Remove the bolts -1-, -2-, and -3-.

-- Loosen the bolt -4- and remove it approximately 30 mm only.

WARNING:

The rollover protection system has components that are under spring tension which can deploy if shaken.

There is the danger of serious person injury to the face and body.

Always install the Rollover Protection System Tool VAS 6750.
Stay away from the range of deployment.
Avoid shaking or hitting the rollover protection system.

NOTE:

The Rollover Protection System Tool VAS 6750 has a yellow dot on it.

This dot marks the side for the connector. Attach this side of the Rollover Protection System Tool VAS 6750 first.

-- Light the outer side of the rollover protection slightly.

-- Mount the Rollover Protection System Tool VAS 6750 -1- on the tab -arrow-.

-- Lift the rollover protection slightly with a screwdriver -1-.

-- Push the Rollover Protection System Tool VAS 6750 inward firmly.

-- Push the tab -3- in direction of -arrow-.

-- Position the Rollover Protection System Tool VAS 6750 on the rollover protection tab -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolt -2-.

-- Make sure the Rollover Protection System Tool VAS 6750 -1- is secure.
