Passenger Occupant Detection System Overview, Sport: Notes

NOTE:

The Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- automatically deactivates the front passenger airbag when the front passenger seat is not occupied.

This equipment version is only installed on vehicles released in the USA and Canada.

There are different versions of the front seat ("Basis", "Sport") and different versions of the sensor:

  1. Wiring Harness
  2. Seat Occupied Recognition Pressure Sensor -G452-
    • Must not be separated from the front seat cushion cover
    • The components are separated from each other; replace both components
    • Replace the heating element if the vehicle has seat heating.
    • It is not necessary to replace the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452-, INSTALLING, BASIS .
  3. Adhesive Surfaces
    • Adhesion surface for gluing to the front seat cushion cover
    • Remove the protective film just before applying the glue.
  4. Positioning Aids
    • Positioning aids on the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452-
    • Before applying the glue, make sure the positioning aids line up with the positioning aids on the front seat cushion. Refer to -item  5-.
  5. Positioning Aids
    • Positioning aids on the front seat cushion upholstery
    • The positioning aids must line up with the positioning aids on the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452- before gluing. Refer to -item  4-.
  6. Front Seat Cushion
    • must not be separated from the Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452-
    • The components are separated from each other; replace both components
    • It is not necessary to replace the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-
  7. Bracket
  8. Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-
    • Diagnostic-capable
    • If the Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- is being replaced, then it not necessary to replace Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452-
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE .

    • 1.5 Nm
    • Bolt for Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706-

    • Coupling location of the passenger occupant detection system to the vehicle electrical system
  13. Connector
    • Passenger Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706- voltage supply connector
