Clutch Pedal: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following: 

-- Replace the self-locking nuts.

-- Attach the mount -2- onto the clutch master cylinder actuator rod -1-.

-- Press the mount into the clutch pedal -3- until it engages audibly in the notch in the clutch pedal.

-- Install the over-center spring -2- into the bracket from the top. Hold the end of the over-center spring in its installed position using the assembly tool T10178 when installing the over-center spring.

• The mounting area -arrow- for the clutch pedal pivot pin -A- must be positioned vertically.

-- Insert the clutch pedal pivot pin -A- into the mounting area of the over-center spring.

-- Press the clutch pedal slightly, push the bolt through and tighten the self-locking nut to specification. Refer to Tightening Specifications .

Some vehicles have a sound absorber -arrow- on the clutch pedal bracket.

-- Bring the sound absorber -arrow- back into its installed position.

-- Install the impact bolster support -2- and tighten the bolt -1- to specification. Refer to Tightening Specifications .

-- Install the wire guide -1- under the steering column.

The tabs -arrow- on both sides must clip into the wire guide.

-- Attach the ground wire to the steering column and install the nut -arrow-.

-- Install the left footwell vent. Refer to "Vents" in Removal and Installation .

-- Install the drivers side trim and the cover under the trim. Refer to "Storage Compartments, Covers and Trim" in Removal and Installation .

-- Connect the battery and follow the procedure regarding what to do after connecting the battery. Refer to Removal and Installation .
