Coolant Pump/Thermostat Overview

- coat with coolant.
- Connection

- Only with the inserted version.
- Make sure it is secure.
- Bolt

- Only with the threaded version.
- Retaining Plate
- Only with the threaded version.
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -G62-
- Removing and installing, refer to Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -G62- .
- O-ring
- Always replace.
- Coolant Pump
- Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT PUMP .
- On a new coolant pump, remove the protective cap.
- Gasket
- Always replace.
- Centering Pin
- Quantity: 2
- Toothed Belt
- For the coolant pump.
- Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT PUMP TOOTHED BELT .
- Toothed Belt Guard
- Bolt
- 9 Nm
- Bolt
- 17 Nm
- Always replace.
- Has left hand threads.
- Drive Gear for the Toothed Belt
- Note the installed position: The collar on the drive gear faces the transmission.
- Seal
- Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT PUMP DRIVESHAFT SEAL .
- Balance Shaft
- Coolant Thermostat
- The coolant thermostat can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" under "Function and Component Selection".
- Removing and installing, refer to COOLANT THERMOSTAT .
- Centering Pin
- O-ring
- Always replace.
- Connecting Piece
- Bolt
- 9 Nm
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm)V.A.G 1331
Procedure
-- Tighten the coolant pump bolts in sequence -1 through 5-.
Tightening specification: 9 Nm
