Vane Pump: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Replace seals and gaskets.

Before installing the new power steering pump on the intake side, fill the Hydraulic Oil and install it by hand until oil drains out on the high pressure side.

Hose supports and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installation.

Secure all hose connections with new hose clamps.

-- Install the power steering pump.

-- Install the ribbed belt, and then check ribbed belt alignment. Refer to [For engine(s) CPRA, CPKA, CPLA, CPPA] Removal and Installation or [For engine(s) CVCA] Removal and Installation or [For engine(s) CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation or [For engine(s) CBUA] Removal and Installation or [For transmission(s) 02E, 02Q] [For engine(s) CVCA, CJAA] Removal and Installation .

NOTE: Make sure the ribbed belt fits correctly in the belt pulley.

-- Bleed steering system. Refer to STEERING, BLEEDING AFTER REPLACING .

-- Check the hydraulic fluid level and fill if necessary. Refer to Maintenance, Diagnosis .

-- Check the steering system for leaks. Refer to STEERING, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .
