Oil Pan: Removing

-- Remove the noise insulation Description and Operation .

-- If equipped, loosen the fasteners -arrows- and remove the oil pan noise insulation -1-.

-- Drain engine oil. Refer to Maintenance, Diagnosis .

NOTE:

Observe disposal regulations!

-- Lift the clamp -1-, loosen the clamp -2- and remove the cold side connecting hose.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the charge air pipe and then move the charge air pipe to the side.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and push Engine Coolant Circulation Pump 2 -V178- to the side.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- from the hot side charge air pipe.

-- Disconnect the connector from the Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-.

-- Remove the bolts connecting the oil pan to the transmission.

-- Remove the bolts from the oil pan diagonally.

-- Tap the oil pan lightly using a rubber hammer to loosen it, if necessary.

-- Remove any sealant residue on the crankshaft housing with a flat blade scraper.

WARNING:

Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove the sealant residue on the oil pan using a rotating brush such as a drill with a plastic brush attachment.

-- Clean the sealing surfaces. They must be free of oil and grease.
