Oil Pressure, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Oil Pressure Gauge V.A.G 1342

Procedure

Oil level OK
Engine oil temperature approximately 80° C (176° F)

-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378- (brown).

-- Remove the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378-.

-- Connect the Oil Pressure Gauge V.A.G 1342 in the opening for the Oil Pressure Switch.

-- Install the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378- into the oil pressure gauge.

-- Start the engine.

Oil pressure when the vehicle is idling: 1.2 to 2.1 bar (17.4 to 30.4 psi)
Oil pressure at 2000 RPM: 1.6 to 2.1 bar (23 to 30.4 psi).
Oil pressure at 3700 RPM: 3.0 to 4.0 bar (43 to 58 psi).

NOTE:

The oil pressure may be 3.0 to 4.0 bar (43 to 58 psi) at 2, 000 RPM during the first 1, 000 km.

If the specification is not obtained:

-- Check the oil intake pipe screen for dirt -item -.

-- Install the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378-.
