Oil Pan/Oil Pump Overview

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:

The oil level must not go above the MAX mark - danger of catalytic converter damage! Checking the oil level. Refer to OIL LEVEL, CHECKING .

If metal shavings or a large quantity of small metal particles are found when repairing an engine, this could indicate that the crankshaft or connecting rod bearings are damaged. To prevent further damage, perform the following steps after the repair:

-- Clean the oil passages carefully.

-- Replace the oil spray jets.

-- Replace the engine oil cooler.

-- Replace the oil filter.
