Overview - Oil Pan/Oil Pump, Vehicles With Two-Piece Oil Pan

NOTE: If large quantities of metal particles or abraded material are detected during engine repairs, it may mean the crankshaft or rod bearings are damaged. To prevent subsequent damage, the following work must be performed after the repair: Oil channels must be cleaned carefully; replace oil spray jets, engine oil cooler and oil filter.

Oil spray nozzle and pressure relief valve, refer to Fig 1.

1. Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-
   • Removing and installing, refer to Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428- .
2. Bolt
   • 8 Nm
3. Oil Dipstick Tube
4. Bolt
   • 8 Nm
5. Bolt
   • 8 Nm
6. O-Ring
   • Replace after removing
7. Splash Wall
8. Oil Pan Upper Section
   • Removing and installing, refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION .
   • Tightening sequence and torque specification, refer to Fig 4
9. Oil Pan Lower Section
   • Removing and installing, refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION .
   • Tightening sequence and torque specification, refer to Fig 3
10. Seal
    • Replace after removing
11. Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-
    • Removing and installing, refer to Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266- .
12. Nut
    • 9 Nm
13. Seal
    • Replace after removing
14. Oil Drain Plug
    • 30 Nm
15. Bolt
    • For the oil pan lower section
    • Tightening sequence and torque specification, refer to Fig 3
16. Bolt
    • For the oil pan upper section
    • Tightening sequence and torque specification, refer to Fig 4
17. Oil Pump
    • with vacuum pump
    • Removing and installing, refer to OIL PUMP .
18. Alignment Sleeve
19. Seal
    • Replace after removing
20. Bolt
    • Bolt with Torx®-internal drive 12 Nm + 180°
    • Bolt with hex fitting-external drive 10 Nm + 180°
    • Replace after removing

      Pay attention to the different bolted connections:

21. Bolt
    • 8 Nm+90°
22. O-Ring
    • Replace after removing
23. Oil Intake Pipe
24. Toothed Belt
    CAUTION: Do not kink, turn or damage the toothed belt with sharp edges!
    • Removing:
      • Refer to OIL PUMP 
      • Refer to SEALING FLANGE, BELT PULLEY SIDE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
25. Cylinder Block
26. O-Ring
    • Replace after removing
