High Pressure Line, Installing: Notes

Tool Insert AF 17 VAG 1331/6
Union Nut Socket T40055

Procedure

NOTE:

Clean the fuel line and the line head before installing with detergent and dry it with compressed air.

When using the high pressure line again, pay attention to the cylinder marking.

The high pressure lines can be reused only after the following checks:

Check the sealing cone on each high pressure line for deformation and cracks.

The bores for the lines must not be deformed, narrowed or damaged.

Do not use corroded lines again.

CAUTION:

Danger of malfunction caused by dirt.

Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

Danger of line break due to tensioned high pressure lines.

Loosen the high pressure reservoir and move it slightly. This makes it possible to mount the fuel injection line free of tension. The lines must not be bent or under stress.

-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions, refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Remove any dirt from the sealing cone on the high pressure reservoir.

-- Tighten the high pressure line union nuts by hand, making sure they are seated without tension.

-- Use the Torque Wrench 1331 5-50 Nm VAG 1331 with Torque Wrench 1331 Insert - Open Jaw - 17 mm VAG 1331/6 or Union Nut Socket T40055 to tighten the high pressure lines on the high pressure reservoir and the fuel injectors.

-- Secure the balance weight to the high pressure lines as shown, refer to Fig 2.

-- Perform a leak test on the fuel system, refer to FUEL SYSTEM LEAK TEST .

-- Install the engine cover, refer to ENGINE COVER .
