Drive Plate, Removing And Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Flywheel Lock Adapter: VW558
- Depth Gauge
- M8 x 40 hex bolt and M8 hex nut
-- Remove the transmission. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
: VW558 Preliminary Work:
-- Tighten the hex bolt M8x40 -A- with a hex nut on the : VW558 .
Loosening and Tightening the Drive Plate
-- Insert the : VW558 in the cylinder block and drive plate as illustrated above.
Counterholder installation position: -A- to loosen, -B- to tighten.
Install the Drive Plate
-- First position the drive plate without the washer -A-.
-- Insert the used bolts -3- and tighten them to 30 Nm.
-- Calculate the dimension between the drive plate and cylinder block in three locations and calculate the average value.
This is measured through the hole in the drive plate to the machined surface of the cylinder block. If measuring on the intermediate plate, then the plate thickness must be taken into account.
- Specified value measured without intermediate plate: 19.5 to 21.1 mm
- Specified value measured with intermediate plate: 18.8 to 20.4 mm
If the specified value is reached, replace all bolts and tighten them.
If the specification is not obtained:
-- Remove the drive plate again and use the shim -A-. Tighten bolts -3- again to 30 Nm.
-- Repeat the measurement. If the specified value is reached, replace all bolts and tighten them.
