Rear Muffler, Removing And Installing, Torsion Beam Suspension
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Pneumatic Body Saw:VAS6780 or
- Chain Pipe Cutter:VAS6254
- Torque Wrench 1331 5-50 Nm: VAG1331 (not pictured)
- Protective eyewear
- Protective clothing
A separating point has been provided in the connecting pipe for removing, installing and replacing the front and rear muffler.
The separating point is marked by depressions around the circumference of the exhaust pipe.
Disconnecting
-- Cut the exhaust pipe at a right angle at the separating point -arrow 1-, for example using a : VAG1523A or : VAS6254 .
Connecting
A second technician is required for tightening the rear clamping sleeve (repair clamping sleeve).
-- Secure the front muffler in the mounts. The front clamp remains loosely connected to pipes.
-- Align the rear muffler horizontally and hold it in this position.
-- Position the rear clamping sleeve with both outer markings and tighten.
-- Align the rear muffler without tension. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM, INSTALLING WITHOUT TENSION .
