Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-: Removing

NOTE:

Only installed on vehicles with a Diesel engine without an auxiliary coolant heater.

For the sake of clarity, the instrument panel is not pictured.

-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the driver side footwell cover. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the driver footwell vent. Refer to DRIVER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT .

-- Remove the left footwell trim panel (in the center console). Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- If equipped, remove the knee airbag with the bracket. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

WARNING:

There is a risk of injury. Disconnect the battery. Always follow the warnings and safety precautions. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION .

-- Loosen the ground cable nut -1- from Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- (9 Nm).

-- Release the flat terminal housing -2- from the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -arrow-.

-- Remove the flat terminal housing -2- with the ground cable from the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-.

-- Remove the bolts -3- (2 Nm) and remove the heater core cover -4- from the heater and A/C unit.

-- Bring the temperature door adjusting lever -1- into the shown position by turning the temperature setting on the control head.

-- Remove the screw -2- (2 Nm) from the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -3-.

WARNING:

There is a risk of being burned.

If the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- with the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604- was in operation before the removal, it may still be hot.
Do not touch the hot metal surfaces of the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- with the Auxiliary Air Heater Control Module -J604-.

-- Carefully move the flat terminal housing -3- to the side.

-- Remove the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -2- from the heater and A/C unit -1-.
