Right Flange Shaft And Seal: Removing

-- Remove the noise insulation, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Turn steering wheel as far as possible toward the right.

-- Remove the right drive axle heat shield bolts -arrows- and shield, if equipped.

-- Remove the right drive axle from transmission flange shaft.

-- Tie the drive axle as high up as possible. Be careful not to damage the paint on the drive axle.

NOTE:

On some engines, the drive axle cannot be tied up so that the transmission flange shaft can be removed.

Remove the right drive axle, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Place the Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit SMN 372500 or a drip tray under the transmission.

-- Remove the bolt for the right flange shaft, by installing two bolts into the flange and counter holding the flange shaft using a pry bar.

-- Remove the flange shaft and the pressure spring.

-- Remove the seal and sleeve together.

A ridge is located on the internal diameter of the sleeve.

-- Attach the Slide Hammer Set - Hook VW 771/37 directly behind the ridge inside the sleeve.

-- Using force, push the Slide Hammer Set - Hook VW 771/37 into the sleeve.
