Right Flange Shaft And Seal: Removing

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Remove the drive axle heat shield bolts -arrows- and heat shield, if equipped.

-- Remove the right drive axle from transmission flange shaft -A-.

-- Tie the drive axle up as high as possible. Be careful not to damage the paint on the drive axle.

NOTE:

On some engines, the drive axle cannot be tied up so that the transmission flange shaft can be removed.

Remove the right drive axle. Refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Place the used oil collecting and extracting device or drip tray V.A.G 1782 under the transmission.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow- for the right flange shaft, by installing two bolts into the flange and counter holding the flange shaft using a pry bar.

-- Remove the flange shaft and the pressure spring.

-- Pry out the shaft seal.
