-- Secure the Dial Gauge - 0-10 mm VAS 6079 on the cylinder block with the Dial Gauge Holder VW 387 as shown and place it against the crankshaft.

-- Press crankshaft against dial gauge by hand.

-- Set dial gauge to "0".

-- Press crankshaft off dial indicator and read the value.
