Brake Caliper, Brake Caliper FN3: Removing

Work procedure applies only for replacing or when performing subsequent service work on brake caliper.

-- Loosen the wheel bolts.

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the wheel.

Vehicles with Brake Pad Wear Display

-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the brake pad wear display.

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Using screwdriver, pry off brake pad retaining spring from brake caliper -arrow- and remove.

-- Remove caps -arrows-.

-- Attach the bleeder bottle bleed hose -1- to the brake caliper bleed valve.

-- Open the bleed valve.

-- Install the Brake Pedal Actuator VAG 1869/2.

-- Close the bleed valve and remove the bleeder bottle.

-- Remove the brake hose threaded connection -1- with the banjo bolt -2- from the brake caliper.

-- Close the brake line and threaded hole immediately using Plugs 1H0 698 311 A.

-- Remove the guide pins -arrows- from the brake caliper -1-.

-- Remove the brake caliper from the brake carrier.

Cleaning: 

Clean brake caliper with mineral spirits exclusively.
