Overview With Brake Pad Wear Indicator, Brake Caliper FS III

NOTE:

After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.

Use Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit VAS 5234 to extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir.

Install the Brake Pedal Actuator VAG 1869/2 to relieve pressure before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose.

Brake Rotor
- Internally vented, 280 mm diameter
- Thickness 22 mm
- Wear limit: 19 mm
- Replace in pairs
- Remove brake caliper before removing
Bolt
- 8 Nm
Brake Pads
- Thickness 14 mm without backing plate
- With Left Front Brake Pad Wear Sensor -G34-
- When wear limit is reached (limit: approximately 4 mm), the Brake System Indicator Lamp -K118- turns on in the instrument cluster.
- Wear limit: 2 mm without backing plate
- Check the brake pads. For maintenance. Refer to BRAKE PAD THICKNESS AND FRONT AND REAR BRAKE ROTOR CONDITION, CHECKING
- Replace brake pads by axle
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE PADS, BRAKE CALIPER FS III .
Connector
- For the Left Front Brake Pad Wear Sensor -G34-
Brake Caliper
- Do not remove the brake hose when changing the brake pads.
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, BRAKE CALIPER FS III .

- Before inserting the sensor, clean inner surface of the hole and coat with Hot Bolt Paste G 052 112 A3.

- The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing
Cover Plate
- Removing and installing. Refer to COVER PLATE, BRAKE CALIPER FS III .
