Removal And Installation: Turbocharger: Installing

CAUTION: If mechanical damage is found on exhaust turbocharger, for example a destroyed compression wheel, it is not enough to just replace the turbocharger. To prevent subsequent damage, please perform the following procedures:

Clean all oil lines.
Change the engine oil and oil filter.
Check the air filter housing, the air filter insert and the intake hoses for contamination.
Check the entire charge air circuit and charge air cooler for foreign objects.

If contaminants are found in charge air circuit, circuit must be cleaned and cooler replaced if necessary.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Hose connections and charge air system hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing. On connector couplings, the seal and sealing surfaces must only be lightly oiled.
Install only approved clamps for securing hose connections.
Always replace seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts.
Replace the turbocharger clamp and catalytic converter after removing.
Fill the turbocharger with engine oil at the connection for oil supply line.
After installing turbocharger, let engine idle for approximately one minute without increasing engine speed. This ensures adequate oil supply to the turbocharger.

After reinstalling the turbocharger

-- Insert the screwdriver -2- into the opening -arrow- on the turbocharger.
