Lock Carrier: Removing

NOTE:

The lock carrier is a safety-relevant component. For this reason it cannot be serviced.

Replace the lock carrier if it is damaged.

-- Remove the left and right headlamps, refer toREMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the front bumper cover, refer to FRONT BUMPER COVER .

-- Remove the lock carrier brace to the headlamp carrier plate from the lock carrier.

-- Disconnect the cable from the cable coupling, refer to HOOD RELEASE CABLE COUPLING, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING .

-- Remove the mount next to the left and right headlamps, refer to GUIDES AND BRACKETS OVERVIEW .

-- If the vehicle has a charge air cooler, remove the pressure hoses, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the foam piece -1- and tape -2- from the bumper carrier -3-.

NOTE: The molded foam part -1- is installed only for certain markets.

-- Remove the right and left bolts -1- on the lock carrier bracket -2-.

-- Only remove the bolts -1- for the lock carrier -2- on the left and right longitudinal member.

-- Install the Guide Pins T10093 on the left and right longitudinal member instead of these bolts.

Have a second technician hold the hood and support rod.

-- Remove the remaining bolts -3- for the lock carrier -2- on the left and right longitudinal members.

-- Disconnect the any connectors.

-- Drain the coolant and disconnect the coolant line, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION , REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Disconnect the refrigerant lines for the condenser, refer toREMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

WARNING: Do not start the engine whenever the A/C system or coolant lines are disconnected.

-- Support the hood and remove the support rod from the hood.

-- Together with a second technician, remove the Guide Pins T10093 on the left and right longitudinal members -2- and remove the lock carrier -1-.

NOTE:

Never hang the condenser and the hydraulic fluid cooler on the lines.

Never bend the condenser lines or the hydraulic fluid lines.
