Rear Seat Backrest Locking Mechanism, Sedan: Removing

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to Removing .

CAUTION: Do not press the rear seat backrests onto the center backrest mounting! To prevent damage to the backrest cover, place a foam piece or similar material between the backrest mounting and the backrest!

-- Remove the luggage compartment carpet. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR PANEL .

-- Remove the rear dual seat belt latch. Refer to REAR BELT LATCH .

-- Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to C-PILLAR TRIM .

-- Remove side trim. Refer to SIDE TRIM PANEL, SEDAN .

-- Fold the side luggage compartment trim panel toward the rear.

-- Remove the rear seat backrest. Refer to Removing .

-- Remove the attachment and the backrest upholstery. Refer to REAR SEAT BACKREST COVER AND CUSHION, SEDAN

-- Remove the adhesive foil near the cable on the backside of the backrest.

-- Remove the bolts -1- on the backside of the backrest (3 Nm).

-- Remove the bolt -2- on the front side of the backrest (3 Nm).

-- Remove the lock and the release cable -3- from the backrest shell.

NOTE: Release cable is not designed to be disconnected from the release.

-- Unclip the release cable -6- from the mount -5-.

-- Unhook the release cable hooks -4-.
