Balance Shaft Drive Chain Overview: Procedure

CAUTION:
Always replace the intermediate shaft sprocket. Otherwise the backlash will not adjust itself and it could result in engine damage. The new intermediate shaft sprocket has an anti-friction coating that wears off after a short period of use, which automatically adjusts the backlash.
-- Tighten the bolt in 4 passes described below:
-- Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm.
-- Rotate the sprocket.
- The sprocket cannot have any play. If it does, loosen the bolt and retighten it again.
-- Tighten the bolt to 30 Nm.
-- Tighten the bolt an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
