Camshaft Seal: Procedure

-- Remove the toothed belt from the camshaft, refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFT .

CAUTION:

The thrust pad will fall off the pressure bolt if it is turned backward too far T10443. Then the thrust pad must be pushed back onto the pressure bolt.

-- Turn back the set screw -arrow- on the puller T10443 until light resistance is felt.

-- Install the Puller - Camshaft Seal T10443, as shown, and then lock it into place with the set screw -A-.

-- Install the pressure bolt -B- until the shaft seal is pulled out.

-- Clean the running and sealing surface.

NOTE: The sealing lip of the sealing ring may not be additionally oiled or greased.

-- Place the guide sleeve T10493/1 on the camshaft as shown.

-- Carefully slide the shaft seal -1- over the guide sleeve and onto the camshaft.

NOTE: The guide sleeve remains on the camshaft as a stop while pushing the shaft seal in.

-- Press the shaft seal in as far as the stop using the thrust piece T10493/2 and bolt T10493/3.

-- Install the toothed belt (adjust timing), refer to Installing (Adjusting Valve Timing) .
