Camshaft Housing: Installing

-- Using a rotating plastic brush, remove any remaining sealant from the cylinder head and the camshaft housing.

-- Clean any oil or grease off the sealing surfaces.

NOTE: Check the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 1.5 mm).

-- Apply a sealant bead -arrow- to the clean sealing surfaces on the lower part of the camshaft housing as shown.

• Thickness of sealant beads: 2 mm (0.078 inch).

-- Carefully place the camshaft housing on the cylinder head pay attention to the alignment pins while doing so.

-- Tighten the bolts for the camshaft housing, refer to Figure.

The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

-- Install the emissions control module, refer to EMISSIONS CONTROL MODULE .

-- Install the camshaft seal, refer to CAMSHAFT SEAL .

-- Install the cylinder head cover, refer to Installing .

-- Install the toothed belt (adjust timing), refer to Installing (Adjusting Valve Timing) .
