Upper Timing Chain Cover: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Replace gasket

CAUTION:

Risk of contaminating lubrication system with sealant residue.

Lay clean cloth over open part of cylinder head.

-- Remove sealant residue on the bearing bracket.

-- Clean any oil or grease off the sealing surfaces.

NOTE:

Be sure to check the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 1.5 mm).

CAUTION:

The lubrication system could be plugged with excess sealant.

Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.

-- Apply sealant beads -arrows- to the clean seals as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:

The illustration shows a cover with two camshaft adjuster valves.

Only Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205- is installed.

Thickness of sealant beads: 2 mm.

NOTE:

After applying the sealant, install the upper cover for the timing chain within five minutes.

-- Install the timing chain upper cover, tightening sequence, refer to Figure.

-- Install the Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-, refer to CAMSHAFT ADJUSTMENT VALVE 1 -N205- .
