Refrigerant Circuit: Condenser: Removing

NOTE:

Extract the refrigerant using the A/C Service Station VAS 6007A (or succeeding model).

Environmentally hazardous draining of refrigerant is an offense punishable by law.

To prevent the ingress of dampness all components of the refrigerant circuit which have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs.

-- Turn off the ignition.

-- Extract the refrigerant with the A/C Service Station VAS 6007A (or newer model) from the refrigerant circuit.

-- Remove the noise insulation under the engine. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the front bumper. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the front, left and right air guides from the lock carrier. Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .

-- Remove the Coolant Fan -V7- and Coolant Fan 2 -V177- with the fan shroud. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

-- Remove the bolts -1- for the refrigerant lines -3- and -4- on the condenser-block connection -2- (to 12 Nm).

-- Remove the refrigerant lines -3- and -4- from the condenser-block connection -2-.

-- Seal the refrigerant lines -3- and -4- with the Engine Bung Set VAS 6122.

-- Seal the condenser-block connection -2- with the Engine Bung Set VAS 6122.

-- Remove the condenser bolts -2- (5 Nm) on the coolant cooler.

-- Remove the coolant cooler bolts -1- (5 Nm) on the lock carrier.

-- Remove the coolant cooler -2- from the bottom of the lock carrier.

-- Carefully tilt the condenser -3- with the coolant cooler -2- downward in the direction of -arrow A- towards to the engine.

-- Remove the condenser -3- from the lock carrier -1- downward in the direction of -arrow B-.

-- Insert the coolant cooler -2- back into the lock carrier -1-.

NOTE:

Carefully remove the condenser -3- and the coolant cooler -2- in order to avoid damaging the radiator blades on both of the components.

Perform work with the help of a second mechanic.

-- Remove the bolts -1- for the refrigerant lines -3- and -4- on the condenser-block connection -2- (to 12 Nm).

-- Remove the refrigerant lines -3- and -4- from the condenser-block connection -2-.

-- Seal the refrigerant lines -3- and -4- with the Engine Bung Set VAS 6122.

-- Seal the condenser-block connection -2- with the Engine Bung Set VAS 6122.

-- Remove the condenser bolts -2- on the charge air cooler (5 Nm).

-- Remove the coolant cooler bolts -1- (5 Nm) on the lock carrier.

-- Move the lock carrier -1- into the service position. Refer to DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION .

-- Remove the coolant cooler with the charge air cooler -3- from the bottom of the lock carrier.

-- Remove the condenser -2- from the lock carrier in the direction of the -arrow-.

-- Insert the coolant cooler with charge air cooler -3- back into the lock carrier -1-.

NOTE:

Carefully remove the condenser -2- and the coolant cooler with charge air cooler -3- in order to avoid damaging the radiator blades on both of the components.

Perform work with the help of a second mechanic.
