Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-: Notes

NOTE:

An electric auxiliary heater is currently installed on vehicles with a Diesel engine. In this system, the air is supplied with heat energy after it has left the heater core of the heater in the event a there is a request from the heater controls (Heater Control Module -J65-). The activation of the electric auxiliary heater occurs via the engine control module (Low Heat Output Relay -J359- and the High Heat Output Relay -J360-). Perform "Guided Fault Finding" using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester (Guided Fault Finding for the respective engine control module) and refer to Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component locations.

Testable with the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester (or succeeding model) under Heating and Air Conditioning, OBD-capable systems; Auxiliary heating; Electrical components.

A start-stop system is available as optional equipment for certain engines. On vehicles with the start/stop system, the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- activation is switched off while the Stop function is active (to protect the Battery -A-). After the engine was started with the Start function, the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- is switched on again. Perform "Guided Fault Finding" using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
