Fuel Tank, Draining When More Than 3/4 Full

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Fuel Extracting DeviceVAS5190

-- Follow all safety precautions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .

-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to PARKING/AUXILIARY HEATER AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Attach the Fuel Extractor Unit ground cable to an ungrounded area on the body.

-- Remove the cone piece -2- from the shaft piece -1- on the Fuel Extracting UnitVAS5190.

-- Make a marking -arrow- on the hose -a- = 1200 mm from the end of the suction hose.

-- Use duct tape.

-- Open the fuel filler door.

-- Clean the area around the fuel filler tube.

-- Remove the locking cap -arrow- from the fuel filler tube.

-- Remove the misfueling guard. Refer to MISFUELING GUARD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Attach the shaft piece -1- from the Fuel Extracting DeviceVAS 5190 to the filler neck on the fuel tank.

-- Slide the suction hose into the fuel tank far enough so the mark applied earlier -arrow- is aligned with the shaft piece.

NOTE:

There is a ball valve -2- located at the lower end of the filler neck in the fuel tank -1- that must not be damaged by the suction hose -3-. Only side the hose in as far as the marking that was made earlier -arrow-.

-- Drain the fuel tank as much as possible through the filler tube.

-- Remove the extracting hose carefully.
