Crankshaft Overview

- Bearing Shell
- For bearings 1, 2, 4 and 5
- Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark)
- Bolts
- Tighten to 65 Nm to measure radial play but do not tighten further.
- Replace after removing
- 65 Nm +90°
- Bearing Cap
- Bearing cap 1: belt pulley side
- Bearing cap 3 with notches for thrust washers
- Retaining tabs of bearing shells and cylinder block/bearing caps must lie above one another
- Thrust Washer
- For bearing cap 3
- Pay attention to the locating point
- Needle Bearing
- Only on vehicles with the dual clutch transmission
- For removing and installing, refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .
- Crankshaft
- Axial play new: 0.07 to 0.17 mm, wear limit: 0.37 mm
- Measure the radial clearance with a Plastigage®.
- New: 0.03 to 0.08 mm wear limit: 0.17 mm
- Do not turn crankshaft when measuring radial play
