Crankshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Dial Gauge HolderVW387
- Dial Gauge - 0-10 mmVAS6079
Procedure
-- Secure the Dial Gauge - 0-10 mm VAS6079 on the cylinder block with the Dial Gauge Holder VW387 as shown and place it against the crankshaft.
-- Press crankshaft against dial gauge by hand.
-- Set dial gauge to "0".
-- Press crankshaft off dial indicator and read the value.
Axial clearance:
- New: 0.07 to 0.17 mm
- Wear limit: 0.37 mm
