Lower Timing Chain Cover, Removing And Installing: Installing

NOTE:

Note the expiration date of the silicone sealant.

Engine Oil: Capacities and Specifications. Refer to ENGINE OIL, CAPACITIES AND SPECIFICATIONS

The cover must be installed within five minutes after applying the silicone sealant.

Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

Replace gasket and O-ring.

Risk of contaminating the lubricating system. Cover open engine components.

-- Remove any sealant residue on the cylinder block using a flat blade scraper.

-- Clean any oil or grease off the sealing surfaces.

-- Make sure both alignment bushings for centering the cover -arrows- are present.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 3 mm).

-- Apply silicone sealant to the clean sealing surface -arrow 1- and on the edges -arrows 2- of the new cover as shown.

NOTE:

The cover must be installed within five minutes after application of silicone sealant.

The sealant bead may not be thicker than specified, otherwise excess sealant could enter the oil pan and clog the oil intake pipe screen.

-- Position the cover immediately and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

NOTE:

After installing the cover, allow the sealant to dry for approximately 30 minutes. Only afterward may the engine oil be replenished.

-- Install the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-. Refer to Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the air duct pipe bracket.

-- Install the ribbed belt tensioner. Refer to SUB-ASSEMBLY BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the air duct pipe -1-.

-- Install the right front wheel housing liner. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Check the oil level. Refer to ENGINE OIL LEVEL, CHECKING .
