Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Spark Plug Removal Tool: 3122B
- Compression Tester Kit: VAG1763
- Fuel Injection Gauge Kit - Adapter VAG1381/1: VAG1381/1
- Compression Tester Kit - Adapter 5A: VAG1381/5A
Test Sequence
Engine oil temperature: minimum 30 °C (86 °F)
Battery voltage at least 12.7 V
-- Remove the ignition coils with power output stages. Refer to IGNITION COILS WITH POWER OUTPUT STAGES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connectors -1- for the Cylinder 1 Fuel Injector -N30- through Cylinder 2 Fuel Injector -N31-.
-- Remove the spark plugs using a : 3122B .
-- Check the compression using the : VAG1763 and : VAG1763 , : VAG1381/1 and : VAG1381/5A .
Information on using the tester. Refer to the Operating Instructions.
-- Operate the starter until the tester no longer indicates a pressure increase.

-- Install the spark plugs. Refer to SPARK PLUGS, REPLACING .
-- Install the ignition coils. Refer to IGNITION COILS WITH POWER OUTPUT STAGES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
By separating the connections, malfunctions will be stored. After the test, check the DTC memory and erase, if necessary.
-- The faults were stored in the engine control module DTC memories Generate Readiness Code in Guided Functions because the connectors were disconnected and the engine was started use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
