Transmission Fluid Pan, Removing And Installing: Removing

Transmission fluid drained. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .

Make sure no dirt enters an >>open<< transmission.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the transmission.

Do not run the engine or tow the vehicle with the transmission fluid pan removed or without transmission fluid.

-- Move the selector lever to "P".

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .

CAUTION:

Risk of destroying Mechatronic with static discharge.

Do not touch contacts in the Mechatronic connector with hands.

-- To discharge any static electricity, touch vehicle ground with hand (without wearing a glove).

-- Release the connector twist lock -1- for the Mechatronic by turning it in the direction of the starter and remove the connector.

-- Remove the connecting hose between the charge air cooler and the charge air pipe. Refer to [For engine(s) CNSB, CNSA, CXBB, CXBA, CXCB, CXCA] Charge Pressure Actuator V465, Adjusting [For engine(s) CRUA] Charge Air System .

Vehicles with Diesel Engine, Radiator Version >>1<<

-- Place the :VAS6208 underneath.

-- Loosen the clamp -arrow-, remove the left lower coolant hose from the radiator and let the coolant drain.

-- Remove the wires and the bracket from the front oil pan -arrows- (two M6 nuts).

-- Route the wires near the transmission fluid pan upward and tie them secure.

-- Place the :SMN372500 under the transmission near the transmission fluid pan.

CAUTION:

Fluid will leak out of the cover when the bolts are removed. Risk of injury due to hot transmission fluid.

-- Loosen and remove the transmission fluid pan bolts -arrows- in a diagonal sequence. Hold the transmission fluid pan in place while doing so.

-- Allow the fluid to drain and then remove the oil pan with the seal.

Approximately three liters (3.17 quarts) of transmission fluid will drain out.
