Front Axle Differential Lock, Removing: Removing

-- Lift the vehicle with all four lifting points of the hoist at the same height.

-- Move the selector lever to >>P<<.

-- Press the brake pedal and loosen the right drive axle bolt -arrow- (a second technician is needed).

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .

-- If equipped, remove the drive axle heat shield -arrows-. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .

-- Remove the right drive axle. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .

-- Remove the front exhaust pipe from the engine and tie it up. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CRUA] or EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CNSB, CNSA, CXBB, CXBA, CXCB, CXCA] .

-- Remove the connector -arrow- from the Differential Locks Control Module -J647-.

-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-.

-- Remove the pendulum support bolts -1- from the transmission.

-- Install two bolts into the flange and counterhold the flange shaft with a tire iron to remove the right flange shaft bolt with a Socket.

Replace the countersunk bolt after removing.

-- Remove the upper bolts -arrows- that attach the front axle differential lock to the transmission.

-- Remove the lower bolts -arrows- that attach the front axle differential lock to the transmission.

-- Push the engine/transmission slightly toward the front (a second technician is needed).

-- Carefully push the front axle differential lock off the transmission and remove it.

• Protect the connector -arrow- from damage.
