All Wheel Drive Clutch, Removing And Installing: Removing
There is a danger of causing damage to the decoupling element.
- Do not bend the decoupling element more than 10°.
- Do not stretch the decoupling element.
- Do not damage the wire mesh on the decoupling element.
-- Loosen the nuts for the clamping sleeve -arrows- and slide it toward the rear.
-- Tie the front exhaust pipe to the underbody.
-- Remove the exhaust system rear section. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS .
-- Remove the center tunnel heat shield under the intermediate bearing. Refer to appropriate service information. .
-- Loosen, but do not remove, the driveshaft intermediate bearing bolts -arrows-.
-- Check of the flexible disc/driveshaft and driveshaft flange on the rear final drive if a mark (colored dot) -arrows- is present.
-- If the mark is not present, then label the position of the flexible disc/driveshaft to the driveshaft flange on the rear final drive to each other.
-- To loosen the driveshaft bolts, counterhold with the :T10172A and the :T10172/5 on the rear final drive.
-- Remove the driveshaft bolts -arrows- from the rear final drive.
-- Remove the driveshaft from the alignment pins on the rear final drive. At the same time push the driveshaft slightly forward and if necessary remove the bolts on the intermediate bearing/driveshaft.
Risk of damaging the seal -arrow- in the driveshaft flange.
- Remove the driveshaft horizontally from the alignment pins
-- Then tie up the rear area of the driveshaft -A- with for example a wire -B- to the side of the body.
-- Disconnect the connector -B- from the All Wheel Drive Control Module -J492- -A-.
Do not disconnect the connector -C-.
-- Place the :SMN372500 under rear the final drive.
-- Remove the drain plug -A- and completely drain the High Performance Oil for All Wheel Drive Clutch.
-- Install drain plug -A- with new sealing ring and tighten.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the all wheel drive clutch -1- from the rear final drive.
