Front Axle Differential Lock Fluid Level, Checking: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Digital Thermometer:VAS6519
- Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit:SMN372500
- Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm:VAG1331
- Commercially Available Hose approximately 1.50 m Outer Diameter 15 mm
- Commercially Available Funnel
- Acid-Resistant Safety Gloves
Test Requirements
- The oil temperature must be 20 to 40 °C (68 to 104 °F).
Use a :VAS6519 to measure the oil temperature.
- The vehicle must be level.
- Front axle differential lock must be in installed position to check oil level.
Check the Oil Level.
-- Remove the oil filler plug -arrow-.
Always replace oil filler plug after removing.
- The oil level is correct when the front axle differential lock is filled up to the lower edge of the oil fill hole.
-- Install a new oil filler plug -arrow- and tighten it to the tightening specification.
-- Add oil if the oil level is not correct. Refer to FRONT AXLE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK FLUID, DRAINING AND FILLING .
