Driveshaft Output Flange Seal On Bevel Box, Replacing

Puller - Taper Roller Bearing:VAG1582
Puller - Taper Roller Bearing - Adapter 6A:VAG1582/6A
Torque Wrench 1601:VAG1601
-1- Three-Arm Puller:VAS251001 (20-10)
Three-Arm Puller:VAS251205 (45-2)
Slide Hammer Set:VW771
Slide Hammer Set - Hook:VW771/37
Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit:SMN372500
Sealing Grease.
Locking Fluid.
Two M10 x 30 bolts
Four M12 x 10 nuts

NOTE:

Bevel box output flange seal can only be replaced with bevel box removed.

-- Remove the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, REMOVING .

-- Mount the bevel box on the hole -arrow- marked with the number -4- in the :T10108 .

A -Place the M12 x 10 nut (quantity: 4) between bevel box and transmission holder.

-- Then align bevel box to the remaining three holes and secure.

-- Place the :SMN372500 underneath.

-- Drain the transmission fluid from the bevel box.

-- Secure the bevel box output flange with the :T10108/1 by installing the M10x30 bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the hex nut for the output flange.

A -36 mm hex socket for drive 3/4 inch

-- Pivot the bevel box so that the output flange faces upward.

-- Remove the output flange from the bevel box shaft bevel gear.

A -:VAS251205 (45-2)

NOTE:

The inner race/tapered roller bearing remains on the output flange when the flange is being removed. The inner race is then removed from the output flange. Refer to DRIVESHAFT OUTPUT FLANGE SEAL ON BEVEL BOX, REPLACING DRIVESHAFT OUTPUT FLANGE SEAL ON BEVEL BOX, REPLACING .

-- Place the :40-105 on the output flange.

-- Remove the inner race/tapered roller bearing from output flange with the tapered roller bearing puller.

NOTE:

Instead of the :VAG1582/6 , the :VAG1582/6A can also be used.

-- Remove output shaft seal -A-.

-- Clean any remaining locking fluid from the thread on the shaft bevel gear.

Previous shim -2- for shaft beveled gear preload -1- must be installed.

-- Place the tapered bearing/inner race -3- into the outer race inside the bevel box.

-- Lightly lubricate the outer circumference of the new output flange sealing ring -4-.

-- Drive the new seal in all the way using the :T10049 .

-- Fill the space between the sealing lip and the dust lip halfway with Sealing Grease.

-- Install the output flange using the two-arm puller -A-.

A -:VAS251001 (20-10)

-- Mount the hooks on the bottom of the pinion housing.

-- Coat the threads on the nut with Locking Fluid.

-- Tighten new output flange hex nut, tightening specification -item 1- OVERVIEW - BEVEL BOX COMPONENTS List Item:Nut

A -SW 36 Socket for 3/4 Inch Drive

-- Install the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, INSTALLING .

-- Add gear oil to the bevel box. Refer to GEAR OIL LEVEL, CHECKING AND FILLING .
