Safety Precautions When Working On Vehicles With Start/Stop System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2017 Volkswagen GTI, 2016 Volkswagen GTI, 2015 Volkswagen Golf, and 2015 Volkswagen GTI. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:

There is a risk of injury if the engine starts automatically on vehicles with a Start/Stop System.

  • For vehicles with an activated Start/Stop System, recognizable from a notification in the instrument cluster, the engine can be started automatically if needed.
  • Therefore, make sure that the Start/Stop System is deactivated when working on the vehicle (turn off ignition, turn the ignition back on when necessary).
